We provide a wide range of chimney and stove services to homeowners, landlords, hotels and other establishments throughout North Lancashire and South Lakeland. The following is an overview of the services we provide.
Our reputation is very important to us, and we will always give the best service we possibly can to all our customers.
If we encounter problems whilst sweeping your chimney, we'll explain these to you, and advise on what can be done about them.
If your chimney can't be swept properly for one reason or another, we won't just pretend we've done it and take your money regardless.
We won't try and talk you into having work done that isn't needed. We'll explain fully the reasons for any additional work we do suggest. Neither will we do any work you didn't ask for and then add it to your bill. Little extra touches such as cleaning your stove glass when we sweep the chimney are part of the service and won't cost you a penny.
You will probably be able to find cheaper chimney sweeps around. We are not the cheapest, and neither are we the most expensive. We make no secret of this, as we go to quite a lot of jobs to put them right when other operators have made a mess or not done the job properly. We use professional (and expensive!) equipment and allow sufficient time on your job to make sure your chimney gets the best service. If your sweep turns up with B&Q rods and brushes and his wife's old hoover, then maybe you chose the wrong sweep!
We will be cheerful, polite and friendly when we visit you. We've had quite a few jobs where the customer didn't use their previous sweep because he complained and moaned all the way through the job! We enjoy our work and hopefully you'll find us pleasant company!
Chimney sweeping
If you are burning solid fuels of any type on an open fire or in a woodburning or multi-fuel stove, you should have your chimney swept regularly to reduce the risks of chimney fires and carbon monoxide leakage into your home. Recommended sweeping frequency is from annually if you're using only smokeless fuels, to quarterly for woodfuels. In practice, we can assess the situation when we sweep your chimney, and advise on how often you should have us back again - with good fuels and good burning practices, the flue can often be swept less frequently than the recommended periods.
Chimney caps and cowls
We supply and fit a wide range of caps (for disused flues), cowls and birdguards.
Chimney pots
We can re-fix or replace loose, leaning or broken chimney pots, or remove them altogether if you prefer.
Stove spares, repairs and servicing
We can obtain and fit spare parts for most stoves to order. We keep a range of stove rope sizes in the van so any defective door seals and so on can be replaced while we are sweeping your chimney.
Stove installation [both wet & dry systems], flue lining & prefabricated insulated flue systems.
Many customers tell us that having a stove fitted has been one of the best things they've ever done. It is possible to install a stove yourself, but by the time you've read and understood the Building Regs, sorted out all the stuff you need for the job at retail prices, and paid the local Building Control officer for his inspection(s), you may well find it easier and cheaper to have the stove installed by a professional HETAS registered fitter.
We strongly recommend the services of John Spendlove, who has been established in the trade for 26 years, and is based in Warton, Carnforth. John trades as Glow Stove Installations. We have swept many of his installations without any problems at all, and our customers have always said they've been very pleased with the service they received from him. You can contact John on 07736 064001, and please let him know we put you on to him.
Firewood briquettes
We supply high efficiency firewood briquettes that are made here in the UK rather than being imported from eastern Europe or even further afield. These are a 100% natural product with no additives of any description, and contain more energy than the same weight of any logs, even kiln dried ones, as well as being extremely clean burning and long lasting. These are used as a direct replacement for logs in any type of fire or stove, and are also popular for burning in outdoor chimineas and firepits. If you're tired of the smoke from your chiminea following you around the patio, give our briquettes a try!
We generally operate within 25 miles or so of Carnforth, though can sometimes undertake work further away at extra cost if we are not too busy with our local customers.
